Direct Billing

A Quick Payment Option

Did you know that most group and individual benefit plans offer coverage for registered massage therapy? Instead of letting your coverage disappear after your annual plan reset, give yourself a much deserved treatment.

  • How Does Direct Billing Work?

Direct billing is the process of electronically billing a service to your insurance provider during or directly after your appointment. The insurer usually gives an instant response, which means all you have to do is pay the outstanding balance once the claim has been approved.

This option avoids having to wait weeks to be reimbursed after submitting a claim.

  • Did You Know?

Most insurers offer 80% to 100% coverage for registered massage therapy. They also ensure that direct billing is easy for you, the massage clinic and for them to use.

  • Your Responsibilities

Back 2 Hands is proud to be able to use the direct billing method with a large portion of insurance providers. However, before booking your appointment with us, we highly recommend calling or emailing your insurance provider and asking the following questions:

    ✓ Am I subject to a deductible?

✓ What percentage is covered per treatment?

✓ How much is my annual coverage?

    ✓ Am I required to have a doctor’s note?**

✓ Do you offer direct billing?**

✓ Do you bill based on the calendar or fiscal year?

✓ What is the coverage plan for each of my dependants/family members?

✓ Do I need to register on a website before direct billing can be processed?

**Please note, the starred questions are especially important.

  • Set up for Direct Billing

We ask that you provide your insurance information before your appointment, to make the direct billing process as smooth as possible for you. For any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team!

  • On Customary Charges

It’s important to note many insurers will provide their coverage based on customary charges. Customary charges are different for each province and are essentially what the insurer sees as the average going rate for the service you’re asking coverage for.

This information is extremely useful to have in mind to avoid surprises; a massage therapy clinic is entitled to charge over what the customary charge is within the province it operates in.

  • Direct Billing Availability

These names represent the insurers we’ve successfully done direct billing with. Please note, the following list is based on previous knowledge and experience. Insurers are entitled to change their direct billing policies as well as deny coverage at any time and without notice.

Back 2 Hands does not take responsibility for coverage amounts or percentages, and has no insight into your policy for privacy reasons. Any coverage inquiries should go directly to your insurance provider.

For these reasons, it’s best to come to your appointment prepared to pay the full amount. We will happily provide you with a receipt to submit to your insurance provider.
